Liberty IT Success at Belfast Telegraph IT Awards 2019

Monday, November 11, 2019

On Friday 8 November, ten of us attended the Belfast Telegraph IT Awards at The MAC in Belfast. We had been shortlisted in two categories - Best Use of Cloud Services (for the Virtual Assistant developed by our Claims team) and Young IT Professional of the Year (for Darren Broderick).

As with such events, we didn't have any indication as to whether we might be successful, so went along just planning to enjoy the night and maybe win something as a bonus.

Little did we know...

First up was the Cloud Services award and we were awarded Highly Commended in this category. Chris went on stage to collect the award, and was rightly harangued by the event host, comedian Neil Delamere, for leaving his suit jacket on his seat!

This would already have been a successful evening - but then came the Young Professional award. All our attendees (and some staff at home following along on Twitter) were on the edge of their seats, not least Darren himself.

Darren won his category and was awarded Young IT Professional of the Year 2019!

Speaking after the event, he said, 'I'm very lucky to have won "Young IT Professional of the Year" at the IT Awards. I work with incredible developers at Liberty IT and my unit (Quantum) has been amazing for my professional development.'
