Our Day at Serverless Days Belfast
Tuesday, February 4, 2020
On 24 January, the very first Serverless Days Belfast took place. Not only was it a first in the city, but also on the island of Ireland. So we were more than a bit proud to be a big part of it.
We're really excited about the development of serverless here at LIT (read more in our recent Cloud Engineering chat) and were of course keen to be play a leading part in bringing Serverless Days to Belfast.
Dave Anderson (Director of Technology) and Gillian Armstrong (Solutions Engineer) were key organisers in the run-up to the event, along with our partners in Kainos and Instil, while Michael O'Reilly (Architect) and Glenn Horan (Software Engineer) delivered presentations as part of the agenda.
Dave said, 'Serverless will change the way we write software - we've been experimenting with it for a few years now in LIT in Belfast and Dublin. We've had people speaking at Serverless Days events all over the world, and we decided to bring it to Belfast.'
This short video with Gillian and Glenn sums up our day:
Over 200 people attended the event to hear from presenters including Yan Cui (Developer Advocate, Lumigo), Farrah Campbell (Ecosystems Director, Stackery) and Danilo Poccia (Principal Evangelist, AWS).
